past
In August 2010 we took part in the 14th Annual New York International Fringe Festival. We performed in the studio theater at the beautiful historic Cherry Lane Theatre. Thank you to everyone who came to catch the show!

On February 11, 2010 we had another table reading of the latest draft. Thank you Ted, Kate, Jerrod, Jonathan, Bob, Molly, Margaret and Jess for all of your feedback.

On March 30, 2009 we held an informal table reading. Thank you Ted, Kate, Jonathan, Katie, Todd, Amanita, John and Molly for all of your help!

Future
It is unlikely that the Altoona Dada Society will ever remount this production.

However look out for a revised version of the show, now called Vexations: Being the Unusual Life of Erik Satie.

The Altoona Dada Society makes its New York debut by presenting the unusual life of composer Erik Satie in an extravaganza the Blair County Little Nickel Weekly has called “...a description-defying, decidedly absurdist freefall.”

critic & audience comments

“Kevin P. Hale and his acting ensemble are up to the difficult task of distinguishing the play’s two worlds. Of particular note are Lisa Altomare’s depiction of a wise cat and John-Patrick Driscoll’s portrayal of Satie’s piano. And Steinhagen’s recordings of Satie’s piano music add a welcome element of beauty and otherworldliness.”

“I saw Playlab NYC's show at the Fringe last night and it was SO WONDERFUL. Fantastic acting, great costumes and so meticulously messy - it was three levels of meta. A play about a group of Dada-ists putting on a play, produced by people who get the joke. Fantastic.”
